They don’t have “Deer Crossing” signs in Africa; they have “Deer Attack” warnings. You would think that wild deer would have a little more sense and grace, but this one isn’t exactly the best at avoiding head-on collisions. Apparently, this occurred during a overland bike race, and anything goes in those hellish competitions of grit and treacherous terrain. Make sure to listen carefully for the unlucky riders groaning and his subsequent recovery. Remember, kids: always wear a helmet while riding through the African savanna. This is one for the bike crash Hall of Fame.
Johnny Depp voices an ambitious chameleon in the new trailer for "Rango".
After an overwhelmingly disparaging consensus on his last flick, Johnny Depp returns to his roots in the new Rango trailer: wearing Hawaiian shirts in the desert as an anthropomorphic chameleon. An actor falters, he goes back to what works. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas references abound in the trailer to keep the grownups happy while the kids laugh at eagles running into cacti, so it seems like Rango has the best shot at being the first decent animated film to come out since Toy Story 3. The rest of the cast is voiced by cinematic heavyweights such as Ray Winstone (known best for his sadistic turn as a hitman in The Departed), Alfred Molina (Doc Oc, obviously), and Isla Fisher (crazy, hot chick from The Wedding Crashers). Rango the chameleon yearns to be a champion, and he gets his shot at heroic immortality when he finds himself in the western town of Dirt, beset by baddie bandits that need to be taught a lesson. Hendrik Coetzee, expert that he was, could not foresee the crocodile attack that befell him.
Hendrik Coetzee was leading an expedition down the White Nile when he and two American tourists that accompanied him were attacked by a crocodile. All three were kayaking in the river, and Coetzee is presumed dead after the gruesome ordeal. All three of the men on the expedition were experienced kayakers; they were searching for new, uncharted whitewater rafting spots on their doomed, final excursion. To make the whole situation a little bit sadder (sorry), Coetzee even mentioned the fact that he had a bad feeling about the excursion before setting forth: he wrote on his blog that he “had the feeling [he] might be doing something [he] should not”, eventually pushing through his premonition and concluding that it was “just paranoia after all”. Sometimes an omen or a feeling can be much closer to the truth of the matter than people like to admit. The two tourists that accompanied him are safe, and they are sure to respect the brutality and unpredictability of nature more now than ever before.
The news came from Spain today that a giant bull jumped into a crowd of spectators and injured nearly 30. Then came the video. We’re not dense around here. We saw an opportunity to watch even more bullfighting and we jumped on it. So, in honor of the 30 or so injured Spaniards, we present to you a great set of bullfighting videos.
